What your €63 ticket covers
Use the ticket on participating local and regional services throughout Germany: buses, trams, U-Bahn, S-Bahn and regional trains such as RB and RE. The train category matters more than the distance.
ICE, IC and EC are normally excluded because they are long-distance services. Before boarding, open the journey in DB Navigator and check the service category; do not rely only on the destination or platform.
The exact regular and student prices
The regular Deutschlandticket costs €63 per person and month in 2026. It is a personal subscription, so you cannot pass it to another traveller unless your specific seller clearly offers a separate transferable product.
The nationwide Deutschlandsemesterticket is priced at 60% of the regular ticket: €37.80 per eligible student and month, or €226.80 for a six-month semester from winter semester 2026/27. It is not automatic for every student. Your university or student body must participate, and the amount is normally collected through the semester contribution. A university's total semester contribution can therefore be higher than €226.80.

Use the right app for each journey
